If you have multiple groups, this could be made into a challenge with points and voting for the best story. Each vocabulary word that is used correctly gets 2 points. Each accurate sentence gets 1 point. Students vote for their favorite story, but cannot vote for their own.

Objectives:
- To develop creativity and critical thinking in writing
- To practice new vocabulary
- To assess understanding of new words
Procedures:
- Set up a Padlet bulletin board and give students access via class website (embedded) or quick link to Padlet.com. Depending on the number of students, you may want to break them up into groups of 5 and create a board for each group.
- Write or print a handout of vocabulary words you want the students to practice. Also, give each group a story prompt.
- Divide students into groups of five. Using smartphones, tablets or computers, one student in the group begins writing the story, incorporating vocabulary words as appropriate for the story.
- Each student writes one sentence at a time, adding to the story in a logical sequence of events. Be sure there is a concluding sentence to the story.
- Read each story aloud as a class and vote/score the best one.
