Tell Me a Story
Intended Students: This activity is designed and appropriate for any class level or program.
Time needed: 20 minutes for student preparation; 15-20 minutes for presentations

It is easy to become distracted and lose time with Pinterest. Encourage students to stay on task while pinning by giving them a time limit or assigning it as homework and then present in the next class.
This activity can be adapted for many other story topics, grammar structures or vocabulary applications. Other ideas include autobiographical boards such as "my home town", favorite activities, places to visit, projects or hobbies to try. Students can present to classmates, then practice reporting, interview, or conversation skills related to the content.

- To practice speaking fluency
- To practice describing preferences and telling personal stories
- To practice any grammar structure, such as used to + present tense when speaking about past experiences
Procedure:
- Pre-teach the grammar structure that students should practice. Give plenty of examples of how the language is used in context. For example, the teacher could use do a personal sample of the following activity.
- Students each set up a Pinterest account. They can sign up with a Facebook or email account.
- Students create a “board” to collect their “pins” (pictures). Give the board a creative title for the story project, such as “Then and Now.”
- Students browse Pinterest for pictures of things they used to do when they were younger, and things they like to do now. They should pin at least five of each category. For each pin, they should write a sentence in the comment field using the assigned language structure.
- Once the board is complete, students can present their boards to the whole class on the main class computer, or walk around the room and present to their classmates in pairs for a given period of time (15 minutes, talk to at least 3 people).
- Then students report back to the class what they have learned about the other students.
